About the Kitchen Sink Press
Li'l Abner Series:
KSP published twenty-seven volumes
of Al Capp's LI'L ABNER daily strips under the Kitchen Sink Press
imprint in the late 1980's and early 1990's. They started at
the very beginning (1934) and made it through 1961, all complete
and in chronological order. The strips were reproduced from pristine
syndicate proofs and original art from Denis's own collections
and others. You will find no other book of classic cartoon strips
so carefully printed and with such attention to detail. Each
volume contains a full year of dailies, most with introductions
by celebrities who knew or respected Capp (such as John Steinbeck,
Charlie Chaplin, Harlan Ellison, etc.) and/or comics experts.
Kitchen Sink Press's Li'l Abner
ended with volume 27, the 1961 dailies. However, Denis has arranged
with Dark Horse comix to publish 4 volumes of Li'l Abner Sundays
covering 1954 to 1961. These are the years that Frank Frazetta
heavily ghosted the Sundays. See them below.
