Fearless Fosdick: The Hole Story (Vol. 2), by Al Capp.
Cartoonist Al Capp loved to play with comic
conventions. An enduring Fosdick trademark was the "Swiss
cheese" holes that riddled his body when he was inevitably
and repeatedly shot by villains. Fearless Fosdick's body on the
cover of this volume is actually die-cut with holes, the gimmick
that inspires the sub-title.
This book collects five more complete adventures:
"Fosdick and Hyde" (March 30 to May 4, 1956), "Ezio
the Pincher" (March 5 to May 9,1957), "Robot Cop!"
(January 23 to March 1, 1961), "Gooch Abducted!" (November
1 to December 13, 1964) and "Fosdick at Sixty-Five"
(September 1 to October 13, 1961). In "Robot Cop!"
Capp thought of a robot law enforcement officer running amuck
in the city nearly 30 years before the popular and violent film
Robocop.
The daily struips have been reconfigured
to fit the 8.5" x 11" soft cover format. 128 pages.
Out of print. Very limited supply.
NOTE: the few
(and we do mean FEW) copies of this book we have left are NOT
completely mint. They are "near" mint. They have MINOR
exterior cover (front or back) flaws that range from light scratchs
to small corner folds, from being moved around the last few years
from warehouse to warehouse. The insides, however, are flawless.
Consider this when ordering.
